Grace Church in Newark:
Location and Directions

 

Location.  The church is located on the northeast corner of Broad and Walnut Streets, one block south of Newark City Hall and directly across Walnut Street from the Rodino Federal Building.

Parking.   Parking on the streets in the vicinity of the church is generally easy on Saturdays, Sundays, and weekday evenings. A commercial parking lot across the street from the church is available for use at other times. On those Sundays when parking on Broad Street and Court Street is forbidden because of civic events (parades, etc.) those attending services at Grace Church are, nevertheless, permitted to park on Court Street if they leave a sign or note on their dashboards.

Driving Directions

From New Jersey State Route 21 Southbound

  1. Turn  right off Route 21 at East Kinney Street (one block below Walnut Street)

  2. Drive west on East Kinney Street, passing one traffic light

  3. At  the second traffic light turn right onto Broad Street and drive one block north to the church.

From New Jersey State Route 21 Northbound

  1. Turn left off Route 21 at East Kinney Street

  2. Drive west on East Kinney Street, passing one traffic light

  3. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Broad Street.

  4. Drive north on Broad Street a short distance.  You will find the church at your right, just beyond the Rodino Federal Building.

From Interstate Route 280 Westbound

  1. Get off Route 280 at the exit for Route 21, Southbound.

  2. Follow directions from Route 21 Southbound

From Interstate Route 280 Eastbound

  1. Get off Route 280 at the exit for Route 21 Southbound (New Jersey Performing Arts Center)

  2. Follow directions from Route 21 Southbound

From the New Jersey Turnpike

  1.  Get off at Exit 15W.  (The W is important.  Follow signs.)

  2.  Follow directions from Route 280 Westbound.

From the Garden State Parkway

  1. Get off at Exit 145.

  2. Follow directions from Route 280 Eastbound
     

Directions for Rail Travelers

From the Broad Street Station

  1. Walk across the plaza in front of the station to Broad Street, then

  2. Take a taxi to the church (a one-mile ride), or

  3. Take a #13 or #27 bus to the church, or

  4. Turn right and walk south on Broad Street, about one mile.  You will find the church on your left in the block below City Hall.

From Penn Station

  1. Take a taxi to the church (a 3/4 mile ride), or

  2. Walk up Market Street to Broad Street

  3. Turn left on Broad Street

  4. Walk south on Broad Street about 1/3 mile.  You will find the church on your left in the block below City Hall.
